Making the decision to end the life of your special companion is incredibly difficult. The entire Northampton Veterinary Clinic staff strives to ensure this gift occurs with the privacy, comfort, and compassion that both you and your companion deserves.

Upon arrival, our client care specialists will immediately guide your family and companion into our private comfort room that will be arranged for your family’s comfort. A veterinary assistant and veterinarian will discuss the process and answer any questions you may have. Our goal is promote a peaceful and comfortable setting. If at any time your family has any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to discuss them. Every euthanasia is tailored to your pet’s comfort. Injectable sedatives and intravenous catheters are considered by the veterinarians if appropriate. The euthanasia process is very peaceful and rapid. An injection of euthanasia medication is administered in a vein. Again, this medication aids in a peaceful and rapid passing. The veterinarian will inform you once your pet has passed.

After, you may spend as much time in our comfort room as needed. When you are ready, we will assist you to our parking lot, through our private entrance. We typically send a personalized ink paw print to you once dried.

We can schedule a euthanasia at your convenience, but please call us to discuss.

Once your companion has passed, there are multiple options available. We work closely with White Rose Pet Memorial Services. They offer both individual cremation and group cremation. With individual cremation, your pets’ cremated remains will be returned in a beautiful rosewood box. With group cremation, your pets’ cremated remains will be spread in a Vermont garden where White Rose is located. They also offer temporary storage if your family needs additional time to consider your options. If you chose to work with White Rose, we can arrange transportation for your pet or you can transport your pet after scheduling an appointment with them.

Home burial is only an option if your towns permits. We will ensure your family and pet are brought to your vehicle as privately as possible.

We understand this is a very difficult and overwhelming time. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your pets’ quality of life, or the euthanasia process, please call or email us. Our highly skilled, loving staff is here to help.
